July Permaclub — Herbs, Berries & Small-Scale Preservation

Permaclub at Hawkridge Homestead
A monthly day of shared farm labour, learning, and food systems practice.
Participants exchange time and care for hands-on knowledge, community, and—during harvest months—a share of farm produce.
Permaculture ethics: Fair Share · Earth Care
Principles in focus: Produce no waste · Obtain a yield
July marks the transition from growing to harvesting. Participants will harvest and dry herbs, pick mulberries, and work together on small-batch preservation, including jam-making.
We’ll discuss preservation as a form of energy storage and cultural practice, not just food processing. Attention will be paid to timing, shared labour, and equitable distribution of harvests.
From this month onward, participants will begin taking home a family share of produce as part of the Permaclub exchange.
You’ll leave with: practical food preservation skills and a deeper appreciation for harvest as a collective responsibility.
