Permaclub at Hawkridge Homestead
A monthly day of shared farm labour, learning, and food systems practice.
Participants exchange time and care for hands-on knowledge, community, and—during harvest months—a share of farm produce.
Permaculture ethics: Earth Care · Fair Share
Principles in focus: Integrate rather than segregate · Obtain a yield
May is a month of rapid change. This Permaclub day focuses on transplanting warm-season crops, building trellises, and installing simple infrastructure that supports plant growth.
Participants will work on spacing, companion planting, and vertical growing systems while learning how structural supports reduce plant stress, improve airflow, and increase yields without increasing inputs.
This day frames infrastructure—not as industrial intervention—but as a way of cooperating with plant behaviour and ecological patterns.
You’ll leave with: hands-on experience in transplanting and trellis design, and a clearer sense of how structure enables abundance without intensification.
This day centres transplanting warm-season crops and building trellises and supports. Participants will learn how simple infrastructure improves plant health and yields without increasing inputs.
Focus: plant spacing, vertical growing, cooperative structures.
